First of all, you cant get a decent result if you don’t have a goal. That goal for me was the image of a “Pre-Heresy Death Guard” from the Index Astartes article in White Dwarf. The overall uniform color is a dirty white with obvious field wear, and medium to dark green trim. The look you are trying to achieve is a slightly “roughed up” feel, so drybrushing will be appropriate, but you should layer on lots of very tight detail work on top of it, to make the final product still have a crisp clean look. The goal is to make the rough white seem “intentionally sloppy” not give the impression that you are a bad painter.

Awesome tutorial, paying special attention to the secret ingredients ie. the Micron .005 black liner is used for all the black lining, with limited use of the FaberCastell brush pens

Hagen’s thoughts are:

Canoness: ditch the Jump Pack & Meltabombs and get a BoSL
Celestians: As Michael suggested, get an Eviscerator on your VSS as they hit everything other than MC’s/IC’s/Vehicles on 3′s (that includes Dreads). Also ditch the flamer for a meltagun.
One of the Celestian squads should be on foot supporting your infantry, so ditch an Immolator and increase the squad size to 10.
Battle Sister Squads: If you are going to arm your squads with Flamers at least give the VSS a Power weapon rather than a Storm Bollter… Also, as has been suggested, upgrade to one HF. And get a meltagun.
Seraphim: Personally I like my VSS to have an Eviscerator. Also arming the entire squad with Melta bombs is expensive, it’d be better to take a TL Inferno Pistol IMO.
Dominions: I wouldn’t waste my time with them, I’d take either another Seraphim squad or change them to a normal SoB squad in a rhino. And agree again (!) with Michael, ditch the Plasma pistol!
Exorcists: Consider giving at least one a Dozer Blade so you can deploy behind area terrain then move into it.
Retributors: Waste of time having these at 6 models, you need 10 for the AoF and the VSS just needs a bolter (why a BP + CCW when you don’t want to be getting these into combat?). Also a BoSL is a bit superfluous here, if they are in combat this is a bad thing, otherwise they have no real need to check on unmodified Ld (hopefully they will be within 6″ of a model that has one)

Personally I managed to get by with just four BoSL in my 2k army list – Canoness, Celestians, Seraphim and one squad of SoB in a rhino. But it’s more efficient to have more.

I’m entering the Golden Daemons again this year! My 1337 paintz0r sk1llz0rz will pwn you all!!

Well, probably not, but I’ll give it a red hot go. All I have to do is kill Leigh Carpenter etc. Hmmm, this could be harder than I thought.

Anyway, after way too long behind the brush, I am FINALLY back.

This figure is just sex in metal and comes about for primarily two reasons:

a ) Following a weekend watching a mate finishing up his KF army before his lovely wife gets home!
b ) Checking out another friend’s army at Judgement Day and following a discussion finding out that his termies are ALL done with a standard brush.

So, in that vain I set myself a challenge. Queue up all the Motorhead and Man O War that I could find, grab a standard paint brush and get to it.

So, thanks to both skabradisdead and Badfang, I present The Truthsayer …

The second entry is Crom The Conqueror. This is ANOTHER awesome GW figure that I feel I didn’t do justice to. Y’know those Studio boys really have their shit together!!

The third is secret squirrel …
